In 2021, Derick was appointed a Resources Equity Analyst at Sanlam Investments, specializing primarily in precious metals. Before joining SIM, he dedicated four years to the highly rated sell-side metals and mining team at Renaissance Capital. At Renaissance Capital, Derick played a crucial role in precious metals coverage and extended coverage to include Russian and Eastern European counters.
Derick started his career in leverage finance, where he actively participated in financing diverse transactions, including Mergers and Acquisitions involving precious metals. He holds an MCom in Econometrics from the University of Pretoria and is a CFA charter holder.
