Based in our Bristol office; we are currently looking for a Proposition Actuarial Analyst to join our Sanlam Investments & Pensions (SIP) Propositions team.  The Propositions team designs and maintains our SIP products which are predominantly pension and investment contracts.
The role
A key member of the Proposition Management Team in supporting the development of new, and maintenance of existing propositions (product tax wrapper and investment propositions).  The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the Proposition Management team and the wider business. 

  • Proposition lead for some regular tasks and project work.  Examples include new product developments; proposition enhancements such as the addition of investment options or product features; annual £ charges review; supporting the implementation of regulatory change.

  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of our Pinnacle fund range, with support from the Proposition Actuarial Assistant.  Maintenance tasks include regular costs and charges calculations for customer disclosure; supporting system updates; updating fund literature and factsheets; and supporting our Client Operations team where required.

  • Leading the regular product reviews for both legacy and contemporary products.

  • Identifying emerging risks within the existing proposition and helping to identify and implement solutions.

  • Providing oversight and checking of the work performed by the Proposition Actuarial Assistant.  Proactively looking to improve processes to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Supporting distribution partner relationships and the wider business.

Key dimensions

  • The role has a direct impact on the achievement of new business sales and profitability targets via the support provided to proposition development and maintenance processes.

  • Whilst the role does not have any direct reports, it is required to provide some oversight to the Proposition Actuarial Assistant, including checking and reviewing work.

  • The role does not have responsibility for any budget.

  • Actuarial study support will be provided.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Part qualified actuary, making good progress in the actuarial exams and with a good knowledge of actuarial standards.

  • At least 2-3 years of financial services experience with a good knowledge of investments, life company products and the UK Life and Pensions market and legislation.

  • Strong numerical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills including verbal and written presentation.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft products i.e. Excel, VBA, Word, Outlook, Teams & PowerPoint.

  • Investment platform skills (e.g. Lipper, Bloomberg, Defaqto, FE Analytics) are helpful but not essential.
