Based in our offices in Bristol we are currently looking for an experienced Head of IT Operations on a permanent basis.
 
The role
 
To enable Sanlam to achieve its vision and mission by leading the IT Operations team; delivering service excellence and driving innovation, change and continuous improvements to all users of our technology platforms.
 
The Head of IT Operations will be expected to lead a highly motivated team in the delivery of a technical platform and architecture that delivers IT solutions to colleagues and customers. You will be responsible for managing relationships with third party suppliers to ensure cost effective delivery of solutions and services to agreed plans and SLAs.
 
You will provide colleagues with fast and efficient access to business applications, enabling streamlined and innovative ways of working which support the delivery of excellent levels of service to our customers. As well as this, you and your team will be expected to provide the business with a highly-available and resilient IT environment to meet performance expectations and will ensure appropriate controls, contingencies and DR solutions are in place.
 
A core element of the role will be identifying and delivering future technical solution, leading on the design and delivery of these solutions; bringing together strategic, planning, design and implementation activity to ensure our colleagues and customers can be their best.
 
Skills
 
Significant experience required in designing and managing technical infrastructure within a busy commercial environment, including the following technologies:
 

  • Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange, Sharepoint and OneDrive

  • Microsoft Enterprise Mobility and Security solutions

  • Windows Server including Active Directory Domain Services

  • Oracle application servers and databases

  • Microsoft SQL Server implementation & management

  • Workload automation

  • Enterprise level mobile device management

  • IP telephony solutions and contact centre applications

  • Enterprise monitoring solutions covering network/ server and backups

  • Infrastructure security solutions, anti-malware web and email filtering  

  • Technology roadmap/ landscape

  • On premises, cloud and private cloud hosting options and set up

  • Networking technologies

  • WAN & LAN design

Experience:
 

  • Significant experience in a technical services management role including:

    • Experience at a leadership level and successful career leading and driving Infrastructure transformation projects/programmes encompassing Data centres, WAN, Servers, Virtual and Cloud Technologies

    • Technical Infrastructure background, with technical delivery management capability and expertise

    • Organised and structured whilst being flexible and responsive to change and able to re-assess priorities in light of changing circumstances.

    • Outstanding stakeholder management

    • Strong sense of urgency and ability to get things done quickly

    • Experience of working within Financial Services Sector

    • Third party management including contract negotiation and review to ensure a detailed understanding of all contractual obligations and constraints.

    • Budget management

 
Degree or higher education qualification preferred though not essential.
