Based in our offices in Bristol; we are currently looking for a Financial Controller on a permanent basis to manage the life insurance finance team and assist our Head of Finance in the effective running of all our financial reporting functions across the wider Sanlam UK group.
Managing a great finance team of 2 and reporting directly to the Head of Finance; your role will be to ensure the smooth running of the life insurance accounting function.
You will be responsible for the efficient and effective running of all daily financial reporting functions to the appropriate statutory, regulatory, corporate and professional standards and controls (including finance specific IT functions and controls). This will include policy accounting, policy commission payments, management expenses, payroll, accounts payable and receivable and working capital.
Key to this role will be your ability to coordinate the delivery of the daily tasks whilst managing and facilitating the various finance initiatives and projects required by the business such as compliance with the Pillar III Solvency II reporting requirements and input into the Group Own Risk and Solvency Assessment.
Actively contributing to the business planning/budgeting process; your skills and experience will enable you to contribute to the strategic growth and direction of the Sanlam UK group.

Skills and experience
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate the following:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
Financial Services experience (ideally Life Insurance).
Team leading skills
Strong stakeholder management skills
Strong technical accounting and financial skills
Strong communication skills and stakeholder management.
Excellent Excel skills
The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to challenge sources of data.
