With pay rises expected to stall at just two per cent for the third year in a row in 2016, it is time to squeeze extra value from your workplace perks. We look at the value of employee benefits – from pensions and protection insurance to loans and shopping discount cards.

Workers may feel downhearted at the lack of extra cash landing in their pay packets this year, but many could boost their take-home pay by maximising employee perks sometimes worth thousands of pounds a year.

Even workplace benefits with little apparent monetary value can add up over time.

Recent research by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development shows that among the most common benefits appreciated by workers are low-key perks – such as free tea and coffee and being allowed to have online purchases delivered to the workplace.
