In-House Lawyer

Based in our offices in Bristol; we are currently looking for an experienced In-House Lawyer to provide effect support to our UK business.
The role
As a qualified lawyer your role will be to assist our Head of Legal and the wider business with a very varied range of projects and tasks that require legal support.
From contract drafting and negotiation across a full spectrum of suppliers and partners, through to drafting retail terms of business and client agreements, providing day to day advice to the businesses and supporting a wide range of commercial and corporate projects, your role will give you a great opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a modern financial services organisation.  A key part of the role will be responsibility for Sanlam UK’s data protection compliance, including GDPR.  
To be successful in this role you will ensure that Sanlam remains fully compliant with all our legal obligations including our company secretarial and data protection accountabilities.
This would be a great role for individuals who have financial services experience and are self-starters looking for a high level of autonomy and empowerment with great exposure to senior management.
Skills and experience
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate the following:

  • Qualified Lawyer/Solicitor with a good level of post-qualification experience, preferably some obtained in-house.
  • A thorough understanding of data protection requirements, including the GDPR.
  • A good understanding of retail financial services regulation, company law, corporate governance and company secretary accountabilities.
  • Proven drafting skills.
  • Ability to provide technically accurate, practical advice and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organisation and project skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage key stakeholders.
  • Up to date knowledge on current and future legal requirements.
